Proper Treatment Can Save Your Natural Teeth
The goal of endodontic treatment is to stop a problem with a tooth's root before it jeopardizes the entire tooth. Endodontic treatment (commonly called a root canal) is often the most effective way to help you keep your natural teeth for as long as possible.
Root canals are used to treat pain, dental injuries, infections, swollen gums, temperature sensitivity, and other conditions that relate to the root and pulp inside a tooth. At Horan Family Dentistry, we work hard to make this non-surgical process comfortable and easy. In most cases, the procedure is no more uncomfortable than having us do a filling.
If you're suffering from dental pain, swollen tissue, or a dental injury, please contact us to schedule an appointment. You can use our online form or call. Emergency dental services are available.
Endodontic Techniques We Perform
- Pulp Capping — In some cases, we can cap the pulp before decay reaches the pulp chamber and requires a full root canal.
- Therapeutic Pulpotomy — This is another procedure that can be used on primary teeth to prevent decay from reaching the pulp.
- Endodontic Therapy — This is the traditional root canal. We treat the inside of an infected tooth by removing the infected pulp, cleaning the area with medical solutions, and filling and sealing it with a rubber-like material. In some cases, a crown is needed to protect the root. An anterior root canal is performed on a tooth located in the front of your mouth, while a posterior root canal describes a procedure for a tooth in the back.
- Root Canal Retreatments — Some decay and pulp damage cannot be resolved with one root canal and retreatment is required.
